Why is real estate law important?

Real Estate Law, also referred to as Real Property Law, is a wide practice area involving the rights, dispositions, and improvements of land. A good Real Estate Lawyer will know the history of this well-litigated field which has its origins in medieval England and thus be able to track the various rules and legal concepts as they evolved to what is the law today. Because transactions in Real Estate are recorded and kept permanently, it is necessary that each transaction is performed diligently and any issues or disputes are quickly resolved. A mistake on a deed or a missed easement could cloud the title, making it difficult and expensive to correct.
When buying or selling a home, it’s also important to know that, as qualified as a real estate agent is to assist you in that transaction, they are not permitted to provide legal advice to clients. Real estate contracts are legally binding documents and if you are unsure about the meaning of the terms, or if something in the transaction is giving you concern, you should reach out to a Real Estate lawyer.
